Barney Boatman
Barney Boatman was born in Summerstown, England. Barney is far more well known in Europe than he is in the United States. He is the brother of poker player and actor, Ross Boatman. Barney and his brother are known for being part of the world famous Hendon Mob, along with Ram Vaswani and Joe Beevers. The Hendon Mob compile one of the biggest poker databases on the internet, with poker stats and information on practically every professional poker player in the world.
Barney is sometimes referred to as "the Old Man", being the oldest member of the Hendon Mob, but his hobbies include snowboarding, biking, scuba diving and sky diving!
Barney was hooked on poker after his first win in his very first tournament, a Seven Card Stud tournament in London. Barney is really well respected in the poker world and is known for his informative commentaries during poker tournaments. His favourite game is No Limit Texas Hold'em, but he is also an accomplished player in Omaha and Seven Card Stud.
Barney has 4 - 1st place finishes, and finished in three consecutive finals of the 2002 World Series of Poker including a 2nd place finish in the Pot Limit Hold'em event. Barney has had 10 money finishes in the World Series of Poker events and was the top British player to take part in the 2000 and 2001 $10,000 main events. He has also made the final table three years running in the European No Limit Hold'em event, in London. Barney Boatman was also given the 2002 World Series of Poker Title for Most Notable Performance.
Barney Boatman, and his brother Ross have made poker history by taking first and second place at the final table in the 4 Queens Classic event at the World Series of Poker, becoming the only brothers to ever do so.
