"Rocky" Ross Boatman
"Rocky" Ross Boatman was born in 1965 in London, England. He is best known as an actor in Britain, but is also a poker player and a member of "The Hendon Mob".
Ross Boatman began his acting career in theatre and working as a television actor in 1988, appearing in an episode of "The Storyteller" and "Dramarama". Boatman's best known role is the firefighter Kevin Medhurst in the television series "London's Burning". He also appeared in "A Touch of Frost", "The Bill", "Murder in Mind", "Dream Team" and the award-winning West End play "Dealer's Choice" by Patrick Marber.
Boatman appeared in the gangster movie "Hard Men", the comedy "Bring Me the Head of Mavis Davis", and in the Mike Hodges film "I'll Sleep When I'm Dead".
Boatman began attending a poker game run by Joe Beevers and Ram Vaswani. All four began travelling to poker tournaments throughout Europe together and they were later dubbed "The Hendon Mob".
The Hendon Mob were invited by Nic Szeremeta to appear in the brand new "Late Night Poker" television series. Ross appeared in all 6 series of the show and reached the final by defeating Hemish Shah in the runners-up final to advance to the grand final, where he finished 2nd to Simon Trumper.
Boatman made his first final table at the World Series of Poker in 2002 in the pot limit Omaha event where he finished 7th. He and Barny were the first brothers to make the same WSOP final table. That same year he finished 34th in the $10,000 no limit Texas hold 'em main event. Boatman has also had success in the European Poker Tour (EPT), where he made the final table of its largest ever event, the second grand final, finishing in 6th place winning €140,000.
Ross Boatman won the 3,000 no limit hold 'em Autumn Tournament 1999, £100 pot limit hold'em Christmas Cracker 2001, €300 pot limit Omaha, Austrian Masters 2002, £2,000 no limit hold'em European Poker Championships 2002, €400 pot limit Omaha Irish Winter Tournament 2002, and £200 pot limit Omaha hi-lo British Open 2004.
