This is really easy! Make sure you are logged in and view your profile, scores or poker league.
You will see a "Share" button that looks like this -
All you have to do is click it and chose what platform you would like to put your widget on. We have some great poker Facebook apps so that you can show off your poker league on your profile and we integrate with most platforms such as Blogger, Wordpress, iGoogle, PageFlakes, Netvibes etc. If you use any of these the widget will instruct you how to proceed - most of the time you just need to be logged on and it will automatically add your widget to your page of choice!
If you have an HTML page you can grab the embed code at the bottom of the widget menu (once you have clicked on "Share" and paste this into your HTML page directly.
See our Poker Widget page for more info on our PokerDIY Facebook Apps and let us know if you have any problems and we'll get you up and running in no time!
From the Wikipedia:
A web widget is a portable chunk of code that can be installed and executed within any separate HTML-based web page by an end user without requiring additional compilation. They are derived from the idea of code reuse. Other terms used to describe web widgets include: gadget, badge, module, capsule, snippet, mini and flake.
In plain English - it's a way of grabbing a little part of PokerDIY and embedding it on your own website or profile without actually having to go to PokerDIY! Get started by checking out our Poker Widgets!
Yes, we have set up a Blogger website to demonstrate how it would look.
http://pokerdiy.blogspot.com/
Bear in mind that these results are in real-time. When the league owner makes a change to a poker league it will be reflected in the poker widget, no matter where it is.
PS. Anyone can create a Blogger account and get their own website for free. You could then put your player scores and poker league on it and show the world your results!
Any website or blog that uses HTML can show our poker widgets. You can also add it to any of these sites:
- Facebook
- Blogger
- Netvibes
- PageFlakes
- iGoogle
- Yahoo Widgets
- Live
and many others! The easiest way to check is to click on the "Share" button and click on "All" and chose where you want to put it!
Yes. Putting untrusted web widgets on a web page can be risky but we have partnered with Widgetbox and ClearSpring to make the experience smoother and easier.
The widgets are provided with IFrame-based security layer to prevent XSS attacks, so your website data is completely secure so even if wanted to do anything bad we would not be able to!
You may need to enter your PokerDIY UserID into the widget at some point (this depends on where you got the widget from - if you grabbed it straight from PokerDIY then you probably wont need to do this).
You can get your unique UserID on your Profile page (you need to be logged on to see this!).
On your Profile page under your picture you will see the label "My UserID" and a number like "38456" or similar. This is unique UserID on PokerDIY - nobody else has this number (and no one else can see this number, although it is not a big secret).
You can enter this number into the widget settings as required.
If you are logged in and viewing your own profile or player scores then we automatically pass your UserID through to the widget so there is nothing more that you need to do.
Likewise, if you want to put your poker league scoreboard on Facebook or on your own site, just view your league and click on the Share button to grab your league.
This happens when you have your poker league on PokerDIY set to private and have not allowed public poker widgets.
To solve the problem quickly, edit your poker league and set the "Allow Public Poker League Widgets" to true.
You can read more about this issue here.
If your poker league widget is not showing your poker league scoreboard then you will need to change the widget settings and edit your LeagueID.
To get your Poker LeagueID, log in to PokerDIY and view your own poker league scoreboard.
Now look at the URL (the address in the browser window at the top). For example, it may look something like this (but with your league name):
http://www.pokerdiy.com/poker-league/lid/241/rods-sydney-poker-league.aspx
The LeagueID in the example above is 241. It is the numeric value immediately following the "lid" bit. So you could enter "241" into your poker league widget settings to show that particular scoreboard. Try it with your LeagueID and let us know if you are having problems!
If you are unsure how to enter your LeagueID then read this FAQ so you know how to edit the widget settings - My poker widget is not showing MY data or scores!?
These are taken from your active poker league games that you have participated in. The average winnings is your total winnings divided by the number of games you have played. If you have not played in any poker games yet then your scores will be zero.
This can happen if you got your widget from somewhere else or where not logged in at the time you grabbed it from PokerDIY. It's simple to fix, all you need to do is edit the widget settings and insert the ID that it requires.
For example, on the My Player Scores (Summary) widget it needs your PokerDIY UserID to identify which scores to display. Check out the other FAQ - "What is my PokerDIY UserID?"
You can edit the widget settings by clicking on the cog-like icon on the right of the "Get & Share bar" that appears under your widget when placed on your site. This will open the Share menu and on the top right you will see another cog (on the left of the X close button). Click on this ("Options") and it will show you the settings for this widget (e.g "PokerDIY_UserID" or "PokerDIY_LeagueID").
This is where you need to paste the neccessary value. Read the other widget FAQsQs to find out how to get your particular LeagueID or UserID, depending on which widget you are looking at.
No problem - drop us a line on the Poker Widget Wall and we'll help you get set up! Also, if you would like to see more parts of PokerDIY turned into poker widgets then let us know! We've got some great things planned...
