Frequently Asked Questions - Profile

Here is an example of a (very) busy PokerDIY poker player (one of the Admins on PokerDIY, in case you need help!).

Here is a demo profile (not much going on here!) and here is an example of a private profile (this user has set their profile to be visible by their friends only, so you will not be able to see any of their information).

Your profile picture is important as this is shown all over the site - for an example have a look at this poker league.

No, never. We take privacy very seriously - have a look at our Privacy Statement if you do not believe us! You can set your profile to "Private" so that only your friends (who you approve) can view it (like this player), but we don't show certain details like your name, email or contact details (Have a look at this public profile to see an example of what is shown). When you enter your profile you can chose not to fill in any information which you do not want displayed.

Display Name

When you join PokerDIY you have a UserName and a Display Name. Your UserName is used to log on and is never shown to anyone but you. Your DisplayName is shown on your profile, scoreboard etc. and hence you might not choose to use your real name for this.

There's nothing wrong with being called "Lucky Aces" even if you real name is John Doe.

Email Address

We will never show your email address anywhere on PokerDIY. No nasty people can scrape your email and spam you on our site. We use a Private Messaging system to allow players to send messages to other players without exposing their email.

Location

We show your City and Country but never your full address without your permission. You can enter your full address when scheduling a game or starting a poker league but this is entirely up to you. If it is a public league, group or game please consider who can see it and use common sense.

Verified PokerDIY accounts have access to all features on PokerDIY such as forum and blog posting, creating new leagues and home poker game ads. Players with unverified accounts can browse PokerDIY but can't post content or contact other players.

When you verify your PokerDIY account you are just confirming that you have entered a valid email address. The reason we do this is that we get a lot of spammers and bots (non-humans!) registering on PokerDIY and these people use fake email addresses. This means that if you tried to contact them through PokerDIY they would not respond - hence we try to weed out these problems so that you can connect with real people who are able to communicate back.

It's free to verify your account of course - we sent you an email with a verification code in it when you signed up - all you have to do is click on the link in that email OR paste the code in to the box on the "Verify Account" screen. You will immediately have full access to all features.

You will know if your account is unverified - check at the top right of the screen below your name if you see a "Verify Account" link then please click on it and follow the steps to complete registration. If you do not see this, then your account has already been verified and you do not have to worry about a thing - thanks for taking the time to make PokerDIY a better place!

The moment you joined PokerDIY we sent your verification email to the email address you signed up with.

It can take a few minutes for your verification email to arrive in your email inbox. If you have not received it please try the following:

  • Check your email spam folder (JunkMail/BulkMail) for an email from "support@pokerdiy.com" with a subject like "PokerDIY Confirmation Link"
  • Add "pokerdiy.com" to your email whitelist/safelist so that it does not get spammed
  • Check that you entered a valid email (click on "My Account") when you signed up
  • Finally, go to the "Verify Account" screen and click on "Resend" and we'll send you a new email

If have not received your verification email after a few hours then let us know.

As usual, the first place to try would be Google (try searching for "free avatars").

You can also create your own Avatar using something like Yahoo's Avatar service and then export it to a .png or .jpg file and upload it. There are a couple of other sites that allow you to do this (like Swinky) and of course you could just upload a photo of yourself from your harddrive.

If you have a profile photo/pic in your existing Facebook/MySpace profile you can also right-click, "Save As" and upload it. Be creative and make your profile unique.

Yes you can, with PokerDIY Mobile. You can browse poker league profiles and see a scaled-down version of your main profile.
