PartyPoker - Deducted $4 as an "Inactive Fee" - Virtual Blackmail?

My reply: Take my $4, close my account and don’t bother me again.

This is absolutely crazy! Especially for a poker site that used to be #1. Why they want to do something like this to alienate poker players is beyond me. I don't blame you for wanting to end it with them.

I can understand them wanting to remove inactive accounts, but after 180 days they should just give you a little reminder that you haven't played there in awhile.

It's not like you take up too much space on their computer.

I think poker rooms should have the same rules as banks. I think it's 10 years of inactivity at banks if I'm correct, although that may be different depending on which country you're from.

Yes, this thing is, as a developer, an Inactive Account is literally a check or flag - there's no massive switch that needs to be pushed by a team of monkeys, it is purely a device of forcing people to play poker on their site. It also looks like it is recurring, so I'd get charged $4 every month. I am not reactivating my account as I don't want to play just yet, and I'll be damn if I am paying them $4 a month for choosing them as my online poker room!

Update: They responded and closed my account. No apologies, explanations or anything other than "Your account has been closed". Oh well, I'll take my money to another poker room with a less dodgy attitude.

I just noticed that I'd been deleting these inactive account mails and I've been deducted a total of $54! What annoys me most is the subtlety of the email's subject. I had been deleting them because I KNOW my account is inactive, and I didn't care. The subject should surely mention a FEE! If I read every seemingly pointless poker email I got, I wouldn't have time to play poker.

The irony is, I was about to deposit $500 and play poker - but now they really can forget about that! The way I play and the way they rake, they have just lost a lot of money by alienating me, and I really hope it's the case with other players.

Don't they realise that even an inactive player is still likely to play sometime - we're addicted to poker after all! Whoever thought of this idea is a fool, although I guess they might be making good money from it - i don't know the stats, I'm jjust thinking of my case.

Very annoying - they don't mention this or make it obvious when you sign up - this is why I closed my account and will cost them way more in lost business by publicizing this...

Pacific Poker Network does this too but way worse..

10% per month till the account is emptied, which takes 10 months!!!!!

Friend of mine just had over $1000 removed from his account into the Pacific Poker coffers under the guise of an 'administration' fee.

This means, no matter how much is in your account, $10 or $100,000, it will be emptied in 10 months after 6 months of inactivity."

Pacific poker silently has taken money from my account with not ONE attempt at contacting me. They took almost 13$ a month from me for 6 months. Not nearly as bad as Davids friend of 1000$, I only had about 115$ in my account but still, they took almost the whole thing. The really stupid thing is that Pacific poker would have probably made more money from me by me playing in hundreds of poker hands than the 75$ stupid dollars that they took from me. Now im going to post my bad experience to every poker forum i can find. So basically pacific poker gets less money from me and bad publicity as well. The worst part is Pacific poker does not even attempt to contact you, not ONCE!! Tke your money somewhere else, it is not safe at pacific poker.
