I was reading this article "Card Playing Bots Could Doom Online Poker" and asked myself, can they?

We know there has been cheating scandals in the online poker World already with Absolute and Ultimate Bet.

Is it possible there will be future scandals? Sure it's possible. There are criminal always looking to take advantage of any situation they can.

But to say online poker will be doomed by bots, I'm not so sure. There will always be new innovations in poker and I'm sure to big poker rooms will be on top of any "bot" situation that arises.

What are your thoughts on the potential Poker Playing Bots?

online limit holdem and stud is already doomed due to very strong algorithms that have been created

no limit holdem will be doomed as algorithms get better and better
(a matter of years, decade at most) to the point where every online casino is saturated by bots

i can't think of any innovations in poker that can combat this and the poker rooms can do nothing to deter this

I think its difficult, human will always have some advantage over the computer. The algorithms could be put inplace by a human also anyways.

Bots pose a potentially huge problem. If you are up against one at a full table, no problem; but what if there are multiple bots at one table? You may become the ping pong ball...

Yeah there is already a new Absolute Poker Scandal brewing which involves bots and spyware programs. Last year Full Tilt had an issue with bots that was never mentioned much. This crap continues!
