I would rather have people over to my hous because it's hard to expect other people to not mind family and online distractions. Online play is fun but people will usually opt out before we really are all ready to let the evening go. Other opinions? |

I host a few home games and don't mind the crowd. All of the players are long time friends and we get together often anyway. We try to rotate the games so it doesn't always happen at one person's house all the time. On the rare occassion someone new plays with us it is through invite of a one of my friends anyway. |

I host home games, but to anyone that is thinking about it and hasn't done it before, get ready for a long night. I love playing at my house, but try to find a cut off time or some way of picking up where you left off the next time you all play together. We usually just do a deadline like we play from 10PM to 2AM. Game ends right at 2, up or down, it's time to head home. Otherwise, we would be up all night. |

That's great advice, thanks! We are thinking about hosting a game. No one in our area does this, so we are completely new to it! Is it hard pick up the game where you left off? Does anyone in your group disagree with cutting a game short?

We are also thinking of hosting a game at our house. We use to have friends over every Friday night play games. That was fun but made for some really late nights. Now we meet at another friend's home every two weeks to game and have fun. It works out well since they have a bigger place and more room. I think a poker night would be a set number of people, so space wouldn't be such a huge issue.

another successfull tip for home play is to establish bad beats insurances.. meaning the bad beat one takes one third or one quarter of the pot.. such as fullhouse with pocket pairs beaten by straight flush or pocket pair fullhouse ran over by another pocket pair which made a higher fullhouse.. or a really ugly flush river.. could sound like baby stuff but if you're playing between friends it's most fair this way... |

we play poker so often since it is that mainstream as it is in the moment. i started playing poker through the first episodes of superstars II. and now when we are more then two people we almost play every time we sit together. it is like u have to. and it is easier now cause everyone got chips and a plastic cards deck at home. but i am searching for a pokerround happening once a week. ok, we got the wedding poker trophy which takes place at the last saturday of each month but that´s too less. maybe someone from berlin invites me for a new game.

Worth reading! I’ve been playing poker in some cash games recently, I just needed a change and decided to head down to my casino and ruffle a few feathers. Always like to get under the boy’s skin sometimes… Sometimes I enjoy the social aspect of playing poker in the casino, poker online can get a bit lonesome if you play it over and over. |
