I am thinking of holding a tournament style game in the next few weeks and wondering what is the best way to set it up. I have not done a live tournament before and wondering if it is any different from our regular play. Does anyone know of a good tournament guide or has anyone set one up before? |

I've learned a lot through Slowpokerplay.com. They have some great
advice for setting up your home tournament. I like their idea of
placing a "bounty" on a player who has won a tournament several times
in a row.

I host regularly. I find what works best for me is coming up with a "pre-determined" amount of starting chips...5,000 is usually the norm unless it is an unusually larger buy-in for that week. I then split it up and start blinds at 25/50. You should check out this link. Its got A LOT of useful information. It's dedicated to helping hosters host poker tournaments. |

Yep, I used to use HPT regularly when I first started out, using a lot of their print outs, and their free blind timer. I have a downloaded program for my leagues with friends, but whenever I'm on the fly, its easier to just set up a laptop, and voila.
Bryan wrote I have a downloaded program for my leagues with friends, but whenever I'm on the fly, its easier to just set up a laptop, and voila.
Is that PokerTournamentManager? My plan is to allow the League system to import results so you can always have them online (obviously the laptop is better for capturing them at the game) - but to share them and integrate them with the rest of PokerDIY's functionality is on the cards...

Great resources!
My biggest problem in setting up a home tournament would be in getting people to COME to it LOL.
