I thought one way to get around it was to not play the game with money. If you're playing for chips and have a prize and the end, it's different than if the cops busted down your door and there was cash on the table. I don't know how to explain that to your son. That's a really good question - probably the same way you can explain that some kids are allowed to drink before 21 if they live in a foreign country

I know around here, all gambling is illegal - that includes lotteries, drawings, and bingo.  But they seem to enforce the law according to who is breaking (ie, churches and schools tend to "get away with it").

I am getting so sick of these hypocrites who run the churchs in ohio they go out and say gambling is bad gambling ruins lifes but then they turn around and runa  casino night or bingo night to raise money. They dont want casinos in ohio because it cuts into there action.

Has anyone set up an offshore account yet?  They aren't hard to set up and it would certainly enable you to keep playing.  I happen to have a UK account  which I use but that was just luck and not planned on because of gambling.

In Canada each location has differnt rules, but for home games they are TYPICALLY legal provided the house is not taking a rake.  You will need to read the law for your area to be sure, however.

A friend told me that there is a huge discussion going on in Europe whether poker games are legal or not. Has anyone else heard of that?

I live in Hawaii and they have a strict law. I am of the opinion that there are too many different laws in the US. I am of the opinion that these laws are rather confusing. There are so many different laws around the world regarding poker. This is really amazing. Nevertheless I love toplay poker with my friends and family.

California has given its first green light to a legalized online poker industry by authorizing an intrastate poker system. As a California resident it's a no-brainer that the bill will pass: California is broke and needs money from wherever it can get it -- and beat New Jersey and the other states where similar legislation is pending - and if you look at the committee vote on the bill it was unanimously approved by both Democrats and Republicans. The smart gaming companies will all want to be in this.

Yep, California, New Jersey and Florida, has been designated as an urgency measure and it would go into effect immediately upon legislative passage and signature by the Governor. A non-urgency measure would not go into effect until 2011. Good thing i live in California!

Although I lived in New jersey that recently legalized online gambling, however some online casinos do not accepted US players.

I think it is illegal if your just a minor. In my state, they don't allow minors to go and play in a casino, you must be in legal age first before you can enter the casino.
