Most of us playing at home use the standard two-color decks, but som online poker rooms offer you a four-color deck to choose from, apart of the tradition red and black.
Do you believe that this trend become popular in our poker parties?

I'd stay away from it. You can use your average bicycle cards, but those'll get bent up out of shape easily. If you play often, invest in a deck from Copegs, or Kems. I have 4 sets of Kems, and 4 sets of Copegs. They are 100% plastic cards and will run you about $20.00 - $30.00 per set of 2. However, they slide well on felt, look great, and whenever they get dirty, you can just wash them with water and dry them with a towel. They won't get torn or bent up easily because they are 100% plastic.

That's great to know! I've been using 2-for-$1 decks from Dollar Tree... I figure at that price even if I have to replace them a few times, I'm not spending too much |

Plastic!, that definitely is a no-no on a poker table.
Is just like those portable dominoes printed in paper |

Well, you'd be suprised. Plastic should be the standard for poker cards. Especially if you have the felt to go along with it. I can take some pictures if you'd like...
Anyways, the 2-$1 packs are OK if you don't play regularly like I said, but if you play on a daily to weekly basis, you should probably invest into one of the aforementioned sets. It'll be a better investment in the long run, and just looks much better. The dollar tree decks will end up getting wrecked by the end of the night.

It's true they don't last long. However, we purchased some cards at Wal*Mart (Bicycle brand) and they have lasted over a year already... and they were no more than $5 for two decks. Not bad!

I use the four color deck when I play online. I also have a Copag four color deck that I can't really convince anyone to use IRL. It really is a shame too because the colors they use to print the cards are down right beautiful.

I love Copag cards but I sort of hoard them and end up usually using Bicycle cards instead. Especially because they're cheap and easily replaced. |

i don´t think four color decks will get really popular. look: we got cards for more than one century and why should we start with this now? i think it is just something for beginners or people who are not sure about colors. sry but i hate 4color decks. bye |

It would be tough for people to switch to a four color deck. Everybody is used to the red and black, but I think it would be a wise decision to change it to four color for the purpose of it being easier to identify between the suits. How many times have you seen players ask "is that a spade or a club". People with poor vision often have trouble with those two suits maybe the color would help. |

we normally used to use bicycle cards at our home games, but when we used copag for the 1st time, its a whole different world...
it slides nice on our poker table, and from when it doesnt bend and you can wash it.......copag for the win!! lol
and as for 4 colour playing cards, forget that we should stay retro with the red and black.... |

I think some might like the four color deck so they can determine the suits better if they have trouble seeing. I like things the way I'm used to with the standard red and black deck. |

Cleaning cards is a pain in the ass!
Plastic cards do get bent and damaged.
I just started a new thread about this: http://www.pokerdiy.com/poker-forum...78794.aspx
