Another thing - I've got a friend who doesn't get the concept of poker face and is turning everybody at the table off pretending he's World Series style. I don't want him to stop playing with us - so what should I say when I host?

Just be straight with the guy.  Home games are all about having fun, not about winning the million.  Could be he's not even aware of what he's doing.

I agree ...just say something ...if you can insert a little humor it won't sting as much and hopefully, he'll laugh too and then cut it out.

Agree with you both, however do not forget to be polite.

Disccuss this issue away from the table if you don't want to scare him away.

 

    Thanks for the input. I guess if someone's being ridiculous they have to know that they're doing it. I'll make fun of him (nicely) and see if it stops!

Just do it right back to them be just as ridculous to them. Also have the whole table join in. Then maybe he will get the point and quit doing it.
