I have seen many adult-intended sites having an age verification script prior people can go further.

Bearing in mind the actual bill on poker and underage people trying to access online betting, is a verification system recommended when developing a site?

If so, are the same those for adults that those for gambling, or each niche has specific defaults?

thanks in advance for your input on this particular

As online gambling is now illegal in the US, American poker sites would just be information-based. I don't see the need for such a script.

I was wondering about this thing for a while, but looks like I have to change my web development plans due to law

Out of curiosity, how do you actually verify age ...or is it simply the person making and asserting to a statement that they are of legal age?

At this point, the main strategies are the honor system (asking), requiring a credit card, or using an age-verification program (which charges customers a fee and also requires a credit card).

Customers are actually paying a fee so they can be investigated and their age proved??? Wow. They'd lose me very quickly with that.

I am always amazed when I join a forum because the first thing most of them ask you is are 13 and over or under 13.

13? Where the hell do they get these things from? At 13 you can barely wipe your own bum let alone play poker
You can lead a H.O.R.S.E to water BUT a DONKEY will follow you all the way to the RIVER PLAY UP POMPEY POMPEY PLAY UP

That's funny! And it's so true. I have no idea what the age of 13 means. YOu aren't old enough to do much of anything including have your say! I also think the low age is a detriment to some forums because you never know when a kid is going to pose as an adult. What if his mum objects to the word 'bum'? You're in deep #$%^!
