Its a plastic card which you put under the bottom card so no one can see it? do you use one? |

Funny, I had never seen this done before and then I played in a cardroom on Monday night and this was standard... makes sense I think - just an added level of security...(you know when someone is shuffling/dealing and they show the bottom card off!)

The home games I play in don't get so serious that it's needed really. I've seen it used at clubs and casinos but we don't use it at home. I hate all those gadgets lol. |

I think it is more needed at home games. You would be surprised at how many times the bottown card is exposed and easy to see when a amature is dealing |

Ok, admittedly I'm no pro, and only play for fun... but why is it so terrible that the (single, only!) bottom card is seen? The chances of it being an issue in the current hand is somewhat unlikely, isn't it? I don't understand.

Nah. Typically when I'm playing with friends I trust everybody (with one exception) but it's really more about the fact that we don't have one with our set! I'm sure if we did we'd use it for fun

There are ways to shuffle and cut so the bottom card doesn't get exposed. You're right though, if you are all talking and no one's thinking about it, it can be seen.

It is a great advantage to see the bottom card, and as such if you are pitch dealing, a postillion should be cut onto and used at the bottom of the deck, however in th UK the standard casino dealer is trained to slide deal, therefore the cards never get lifted off the table, and never exposing the bottom card. On tele you will mainly see pitch dealers as producers think it looks more attracive, however slide dealing can be just as attractive. If pitch dealing (from the hand) always beware of the mechanics as it is easy to always deal the second card and the bullet on top can be placed in your friends seat or yours. I would always recommend slide dealing to protect the game. |

i am not worried about mecanics as much as I am of amatuers showing the bottoms card on accident imagine you get a glispe of the king of hearts on the bottom of the deck no big deal right. Well you hold q of hearts and jack of spades the flop comes A 2 8 all hearts then the turn is a 10 of heart now you are certain you have the nuts in stead of wondering if someone has the king of hearts is such a huge advantage to see even one card if a game does not use a cut card i dont play plain and simple |
