I have no idea about how many times but remember an issue with the Shawnee tribe past year, because of the Indian casinos there.

I just find the Indian casino situation such a phenomena ... I like them, or at least the ones near me, because they're very nice, but the whole tax/non-tax situation is so odd.

Yes, I know what you mean. this is much like the State Parks where Indian Nations have their own regulations.

We have a small tribe near here who have been waging something of a war about getting their own casino.  To do it, they are laying claim to land on which there's been a private school for over a hundred years and I seriously doubt they'll manage to reclaim the land.  It's been almost amusing to watch because the tribe can't even decide on who the 'chief' is!

That is funny indeed because the advantage of other tribes is that the kept their land then negotiate afterwards, but if they can rule themselves naming a Chief, will be hard they can get what they want.

It is funny.  There's a weekly article in the local paper about some stunt they've pulled.  There are two factions in this particular tribe ...and the factions live about 40 miles a part.  The smart bunch want a casino down in their area which is more heavily populated and near major highways.  The dumb bunch want it in the backwoods up here where it not only wouldn't make it, but causes ire amongst the locals.  Their internal fights are pretty funny.  Right now, the really fat princess is trying to take over ...like a Chief-ette!

The tribe you mentioned showed humorous thoughts about gambling. What's the specific name of the tribe? I heard the same thing in my place.
