Let's review which equipment are in a typical poker table and which all of us have at home:

Cards deck, timer, poker chips, lammers, card protectors, and obviously, a poker table.

How many of these items do you have?

Personally, I don't have a special table or any timers for my style of play. I have a very nice chip set and several decks (of course).

I've had traditional poker tables, but not in this house.  There just isn't a spot where it could stay up, and I hate the folding ones.  I have a round dining table so we use that and it works fine.  Outside of decks and chips, I'm also not into alot of poker accessories.

Sounds like a great solution, because sadly most of us have not an entire room to setup a poker table and associated stuff as it should be.

All of them! The poker table was the most important investment after we got tired of playing at the dining room table which is rectangular. It was a major investment, but so worth it!

The only things on this list I do have are chips and card decks. I thought those were the only necessities, silly me. This might be a stupid question, but what are lammers?

the most important thing are plastic cards! they naturally work for more than one year and it don´t break as fast as the chinese playing cards. do you know it when one card is invalid and everyone is looking for that one? for knowing what the others have!

or if you don`t play for the money, you could change the money/chip in to stones or matches. No timer needed.

When it comes to hosting tournaments, I want to make sure the people at my home are as close to a casino atmosphere as possible.

    1. One Solid Octagon Poker table (brother made it)
    2. fold up poker table
    3. Poker timer- a must to make sure every thing goes on schedule
    4. 14,000 poker chips with denominations - Denominations is important so that your players don't constantly ask what are the values
    5. Copag and Kem Cards (4 decks)
    6. Dealer Buttons
    7. 2 T.V's for those knocked out early
    8. fold up tables for side game action
    9. New addition will be a Ping Pong Table for those knocked out early.  Good way to shake off bad beats

hehe - we like to keep the people who go out early around as shufflers personally ;) Don't want to distract them with Ping Pong tables, or we'll have to shuffle ;)

    thanks,
    Rodney

LOL good point.  Take the ping pong table off the list I would rather have full time dealers and shufflers

I also like having chip racks around if it is going to be a multi table tournament.  It makes it easier to move players around etc.
