Very interesting list, and thanks for posting it. I'm a little stunned that several on the list don't think that online games are as open for cheating as ring games. My feeling is that it's just the opposite, but I play with people I know in real life, for the most part, and I guess that has to factor in to my point of view. |

My experiences is that it's easier to cheat (or, rather, be cheated) online due to the anonymity of the situation. |

I'd agree. This morning I was playing online and there was a couple at the table who I didn't know were together at first. But they way they played hands was just too much in concert with one another. Then, they screwed up, and typed some chat in the main room window that was meant to be in private. You've never seen people leave a table so fast! |

That is the not so funny side of the Internet, while you can face people cheating at your poker table, online they simply can "gracefully" disappear.

Yes, and I often wonder how many private conversations are being held by players via IM. There are times when you just sense it. |

Ah!, that is probably what they are doing.
I have myself playing online with someone that for moment seems to be lost in limbo... it must IM and noth the empty clouds where they are |

LOL ...I know exactly the feeling. We all get distracted now and again although I try not to because that's when I do something stupid, but the IMing is pretty obvious. |

I believe the only way to avoid IM cheating and distraction is enablign the video capability, but not all IM support this feature.

Yep, agreed on that. I would never submit to that type of monitoring of my own play, so I wouldn't expect someone else to. |

Even the suggestion of it sounds frought with all sorts of human rights issues. Online cheating is definitely one of those new world categories though. |

Interesting site for the whole list, but not much there for online collusion problems. I think it's a whole new frontier the online sites have to address. There's nothing to keep people form using their IM system to collude. |

Skype, Messangers, and all this kind of sofware are so of common use... but I don't think that a good player can be beated also by 3-4 colluded player.

I don`t agree with you mizunoboss...and I`ll tell you why,...when 3 or 4 people are together at a 6 person table..you can`t win against them ...especially if you`re playing at cash tables..at least I think so..because you cannot beat 4 hands once...and if you do that...your win won`t be as big as their when they`ll win against you..because one will raise..other re-raise...and if your hand is not that bad you`ll go on to see their hand |

Online poker rooms can usually detect colluders fairly easily, since they have to play in the same room in order to make a profit. As such, you probably don't need to worry about it. If you see two players than always seem to stay in the same hands together, and keep raising each other, driving everyone else out the hand. |
