Does anyone have recommendations for good quality chip sets? I have one that I got on the cheap (direct from an importer, a friend-of-a-friend deal) but I'm in the market for another set, and ceramic chips seem very experience.

I missed your post, but now after reading I can't help you anyway because my chip sets have been presents received for birthday or Christmas so I have no idea of their price.

I'm  using a set that I bought a couple of years ago online.  It's from one of those Vegas type suppliers and was a 500 chip set with a carrier.  I think I paid about $175 for it then, but the chips are really nice and are holding up beautifully.

Interesting. I actually got mine in an import deal - I payed I believe $60 and he was in fact reselling them for $200 to most people, but needed help meeting the minimum order, so I made out very well.

I think if I were shopping right now, I'd head for Ebay to look around.  With a little bit of online research, you can get nice things from them.

There's so much available online now that it's hard to know what to recommend other than just googling 'poker chips' and having a look for yourself. People have specific chip tastes.

I use "Rondelo" poker chips. I brought it on ebay. It is a 13,5gramms chip set, with nice sound and great design. I am very pleased with this set.
Try looking up for the word rondelo on google.

good luck,

Rondelos are good chips. Isn't it funny how much difference the 'sound' makes?

I was looking on ebay, there is a variety of chips... a friend of mine bought a box of 500 chips for 36 Euro, they were terrible... plastic crap!!!

How much does it cost a good set of chips? how much does it have to weight a good chip? 13,5g? 15g? Let me know!

I would never buy chips that weigh more than 11 grams.  Too heavy and they sound chunky with that metal insert in them.  Heavier is not better!  Good clay chips weigh 10 grams or less.
The six stripe chip pictured is 8 grams.
