ok...here is my question. I just Created a league so everybody all my friends can join and we can keep track of live poker games. I also created a game that will be held on sunday, but the thing is, I cant find the way to link the game and the league together. How do I make the game part of the league?

    Thanks in advance!!

    Hi,

Ok, you are on the right track - I'm just a little behind ;)

So a League is a collection of users who all play in the same tournaments etc and want to track their scores over Seasons, which are usually yearly periods. Each Season has a series of Games. In a while you will be able to invite external users (by email address) to join your League too)

This is the bit I am working on now - An Event could actually be a series of Games - for example, I set up a home game event for next Wednesday and we actually play 3 games on the night. Therefore I decided not to tie the Event in too closely to the League - it is very loosely coupled.

When I am finished (hopefully in the next 2 weeks) you will be able to add a Season to your League (it defaults to the current year) and then add the scores for Games (which can also link to the Event (so all 3 games would link to the same event).

Sorry, I was confusing myself, there - but it is all under control ;) Just keep track of your scores and the PokerDIY player names for now and either hold on to them or email them to me rod A PokerDIY.com and I will upload them the moment it is all live. I am keeping track of the Freeroll game scores so I will be doing the same then...

Let me know if you need more help with the Leagues - I would appreciate if you could act as a beta tester and tell me what you need etc.
    thanks,
    Rodney

A strange thing I have noticed is that Everytime I post on the forum appears "Uruguay" instead of Costa Rica below my username. I dont know why but it happens

Hmm - that is very odd! I checked your profile and it looks fine to me - leave it with me and I'll get back to you!
    thanks,

    Hi dxiri,

Ok, I got some feedback from the developers of the Forum module, and they say that the Country that shows here is NOT the same as the Country in your profile - it is inferred from your IP address using some sort of GEO-IP data mapping, so they suggested you may be behind a proxy server or something.

I suggested they should just read it from the profile as it would be a lot less confusing ;)
    thanks,
    Rodney

    Hi,

Just a quick note to say that the new version of the Poker Leagues has been released and you can now enter results against games and events and see the latest scoreboard!

Quick refresher - a Poker League has a series of Seasons, and you can play multiple Games throughout the Season. A Game consists of Players (League Members) and you can record their scores for a game. For example, the CD Poker Freeroll League is an online (you can play games online or live), and it has 1 Season so far, which is the current year (1st of Jan to 31st). We have played 5 Games so far this year, and you can see who is winning so far.

The PokerDIY Event system allows your to schedule events, and an event COULD have more than one Game for it - for example, I might set up a home poker game event and we may play 2 games at it. Our League software caters for this.

This is the first major version and work has already begun on the next version. Over the next few months you can expect more flexibility over scoring methods (e.g. points or cash), the ability to import the results from Tournament Director and other popular desktop software apps, and the ability to place your latest League on your own blog or webpage!

I would love to hear your comments and start seeing how the leagues are used! Don't be scared to try it - feel free to set up a private League (so no one will see it) to get the hang of how Seasons, Games, Players and Events work....

    thanks,
    Rodney
