The Lincoln Abraham Foundation, a group dedicated to raising money for children’s charities, is to set up a 144 seater, charity poker tournament at the Raglan Hall Hotel, Thursday 19th April, 2007.

A spokesperson for the Lincoln Abraham Foundation, says: “The foundation is named after Lincoln Abraham who died in a tsunami in 2004. He was very committed to children’s charities and lived in this area I’m sure he would have been very proud of this tournament.”

Starting time for the game will be 7.30pm sharp with the cost to play being £100, re-buys are allowed in the first 90 minutes.

First prize in the tournament will be a seat at the Channel 5 televised Party Poker World Game Play Event.

Dusk till Dawn, a Nottingham-based poker club, will also be contributing prizes to the tournament as well as having some of the DTD poker team taking part.

Paul Zimbler, Marketing Director at DTD, says: ‘Poker has often attracted a somewhat negative stereotype but through helping tournaments like this we hope to show that poker is not only fun but can benefit local communities.”

The foundation hopes to raise £40,000 for disabled children’s charity Kisharon based in North London.

A charity auction will be held at the break, some of the prizes which are to go under the hammer are:

    1. A signed and framed World Cup Pele shirt
    2. A signed and framed World Cup Maradona shirt.
    3. Poker lessons from the pros
    4, Seat for poker academy

The Lincoln Abraham Foundation depending on the success of the tournament is hoping to host similar events later in the year.

    Hi Kiall,

This sounds like a great event - what you really want to do to get it noticed (on the PokerDIY home page) is set up an event for it. Go to the Games menu and set up an event for this. It will go on the home page automatically and into the Upcoming Games feed (a lot of people have the RSS bookmarked).

You can put in all the details etc - let me know if you have any questions.

    thanks,
    Rodney

Hosting poker games for charity is an impressive event for me. The event is a great help for the people who are in need. Lincoln Abraham Foundation sets a good example for others. Hoping for more poker tournament for the poorest of the poor.
