I've never heard of dress requirements or rules. I always just dress for comfort as I might (hopefully!) be sitting for a quite a long time in a tourney.

I think dressing up for a game is very important in professional tournaments or even in olympics. But it usually depends to the rules of the game.

In all the tournaments I've watched on tv, there doesn't seem to be much of a dress code. Even for the final of WSOP, there doesn't seem to be one.

Frankly, if I were in a televised tournament, I'd dress up - but from watching many tournaments, no dress code seems required or customary.

It's funny, one of the many reasons I love snooker is that the guys always dress for a tourney. It's a nice tradition, but, then of course, snooker isn't quite as popular as poker these days!

In addition, dressing up for a game is good for games that involve 2 or more players as a team because it symbolizes teamwork such as basketball, football and etc. But in poker you're not playing by team so it's better to have freedom of wearing clothes.

Hmm , yes the same dress does give a feel of team spirit and i think in major events one should be dressed like a professional though dress for a poker player can be casual

I remembered when I joined a chess tournament before. I'm ashamed of wearing our uniform because it was too large for me. But I still wore it for the sake of team spirit.

I think if you want to be comfortable, that's one thing, but I also think that when playing you should wear something that makes you feel confident too. Just like with anything else.

I have seen that almost in all sports there are specific dress codes but i think poker should be free of those as it is game of freedom

That's an interesting way to think of poker. Could you explain what you mean a little more?

In sports industry nowadays, in playing any kind of sports there's always rules and regulations. Dressing code is already a part of it. So if you joined in a certain tournaments, it's expected that you must follow rules and regulations whether you like it or not.

I'm old fashioned. If I'm playing in a very nice casino, I don't like sitting across the table from some guy in a tank top with his underarm hair showing. That there are some dress codes is a good thing and I wish there were more!

Oh my, it was a really embarrassing moment and would probably let him see how much I appreciate our friendship to dress like that.

LOL ...sort of a gotcha type thing!

Well, if you cashed out in a JR style, then good for you! I kind of miss that show ...it was so bad that it was good!
