Normally i dont share these beats with people...except of course my girlfriend and others close to me, cause i just cant help blurting em out...i think she only heres code though...but shes picking it up a little...-) Ill add this...ive had slightly worse beats (maybe) and ive had them in important stages of fairly big tournys too of course...fairly big for small stakes that is, 50k-100k gauranteed sort of things...but this ones timing took the biscuit...your see why...im still not over this and it was last year!!!!!!!!!

the setting: $125 WSOP MAIN EVENT double shootout.

ok we won the first 9 manner fine...and now were getting excited about our wsop...vegas here we come...just 8 more players to beat for a seat...lovely jubbly...i control the table, the gods are kind to me and i think i play pretty well...so we get down to heads up...

ive got around 8k, him the rest of course so around 5.5, blinds are not too high so we got some play left...i thought...(and this git took 3rd place out so his stack can now hurt me...jezz man get on with it you say...-) ok

    hole cards: AsKc

i raise it up 4x pre, this guy reraises me and i think and then just flat call. im sure i got him beat but i want em all and not a toss up..even a dominated one...

    flop comes: ks8s2s

unreal flop...tptk, nut flush draw...and i knew i was going to wsop..i just knew it...i check and he pushed of course...insta call and here we go...

he has a3 of clubs...and now u know whats coming right...

    turn: red 4

    river: red 5

im jumping around for joy and look back to see the pot moving his way...a quick screen print helps me realise my damnation...i felt sick and couldnt turn it around...i was in shock maybe and really couldnt play no more...i had hope but not much...and eventually he took me out...when again i had him dominated ill add...but who cares...the worst was over...and i nearly shed a tear...

    poker is beautiful and brutal...

    gl

Good story, and a good one to remember. I hate those sneaky straights ...they're almost as bad as the sneaky full house ...but not quite lol.

I dont know if I cant start new posts until I am approved or something, but I guess I will hijack this thread to share my bad beat story.

I was playing at titan and was 2nd stack in the tourney, final table and we are on the bubble.

I am BB and get dealt A6 off and I get to check my option. THe flop comes 666 and I check, the big stack moves all in... I of course call with quad 6s.

The big stack turns over KK.

Turn comes K, River comes K and my 6666 goes down to KKKK

That really is unlucky! However, I've recently subscribed to Roy Rounder's newsletter (google it) and have been picking up some really good tips on betting strategy to avoid bad beats. I'm not saying they necessarily would have helped in this case but I am asking myself more and more whether my loss was a bad beat or bad betting. What I've realised is that learning poker is really easy but learning the subtleties (spelling?) takes a lifetime and learning from other people who've screwed it up before is a lot quicker (and cheaper) than making all of the mistakes yourself. Anyway, I'm not preaching but Roy Rounder has some good tips, I hope they help.
    Cheers.

I will share another bad beat story with you guys and girls..I was playing in a $250 private freeroll...there were 21 players and only 3 places payd...I was first and there were 4 left...1st place $125,2nd-$75 and 3rd-$50 ...so my cards come AK...I double raise the blind..a player pays...the flop comes A K 3 ...I bet the blind...he raises..I go all in..he pays..and he had 35...the turn comes Q and the river 3 :)))) I got mad and started to break everything in my way :))) I swared then never to play poker again...I finished 4th because after this when I went all in with JJ he called with 99 and got another 9...that`s poker :)))

YOu just never know what that old river is going to do to you. Sometimes, it's great and sometimes, it sucks.
