Is there anyone else out there that folds AA in a freeroll when they get it first hand? My reasoning is that I want to survive, and if I make a decent size bet, it always gets raised all in, and you always get too many callers. Maybe its a mistake, but 9 times out of 10 for me they get cracked first hand.

I know what you mean, but I could NEVER fold AA preflop as statistically it is the best starting hand, and if you cannot rely on hard maths then what can you do...  I do dislike getting AA as I never seem to win ;)

    thanks,

Yep u was right city coz today i saw so many all in that i stopped to count them after 250. Especially at the begining of freeroll.

So many donkey owning 2 3, 7 3 , and of course A+mini card  and went all in pre flop.

    ;)

I personally can't fold top pair or any pair for that matter. The trouble with freerolls is you will get caller(s) no matter what you hold because it does not cost anything to enter so you either have to push all in and hope they hold or they get beat to some rediculous hand.

No, i don't fold AA. I raise 4 or 5 BB and then i call a raise allin.

I would never fold AA pre-flop in any tournament, let alone a freeroll. Sure there are a lot of BINGO players in the first few hands of a freeroll, but I'll take my chances with the best starting hand. You're in a freeroll so take the chance with the best hand.

Like the others...or the majority i could never fold AA...U are right, they are many donks and u can lose with this hand but...it's a freeroll. I try to acumulate as much as i can in the first hands and AA in first hand it's a risk i want to assume. If u fold AA that means that u fold all your first hands, even if they are good ones,no? So...when do u start calling? When the BB it's big? I don't think folding AA in first hand it's a good idea

This game up at a past home game where one of the guys we were playing with made mention of doing good in a huge  tourny. He said he folded AA pre-flop and told me the situation. I agreed I may have layed it down too considering the consequences. Would you?

(Not exact stats but just so you get the point...

    PokerStars $200 buy-in. 3000 people...

    $600,000 Prize Pool
    1. $250,000
    2. $225,000
    3. $100,000
    4. $75,000
    5. $50,000
    6. $25,000
    7. $10,000
    8. $9,000
    9. $5,000

    9 Players Remaining....

    Stacks::
    1. 20,000,000 +
    2. 15,000,000 + (Friend)
    3. 5,000,000
    4. 4,400,000
    5. 3,000,000
    6. 1,100,000
    7. 1,000,000
    8. 750 k
    9. 450 k

    Blinds are 50k/100k
    Only 2 huge stacks

UTG Big Stack pushes...2nd to act u have AA...what do you do?

Ignore the completley innacurate chip counts and pay outs and try to just focus on the situation. I seemed to be the only one to agree that it is possible to lay it down.

If you are got an AA every hand, it will be difficult for other poker players to have more chips than you throughout the tournament. Especially when you are at the freeroll tournament and at the beginning is too risky. All players might think that you are bound for some luck out and take you out before you game has been started.

Based on ICM your EV will increase in this situation by calling with AA. The problem is that your aces are going to lose 17% of the time, whereas the other 83% you become a dominant chip leader.

Is it better to wait out the short stacks dying off first to coast into a $25,000 payday at 6th place? I have to say roll the dice and take your chances, since one first or second place finish is worth 10 times that of 6th place.

In my opinion, limping the AA is very dangerous. But raising is definitely the way to go I reckon. If you start to raise and if everyone folds then at least you take the pot.

    Let's examine this post:

    1. You get dealt AA
    2. It's a FREEroll

What's the problem with jamming it in there. So what if you get called by everyone on the table. You can fold it and play for hours and bust later on with a bad beat and still get nothing hours later.

Play the hand and take whatever the results yield.
