why do so many people say they want to join diy then make a couple of posts only to advertise other forums or lnks so that they can make money.seen a post about cake poker that wants members to download cake from another site.diy has a link to download cake so if members download from another site then how can diy keep up the leagues that we have.think it may be time for rod to stop the compitition from advertising sites that diy are promoting.what are the other members views.do we allow these chancers to come and post their own links or do we ban so that diy has a income to generate more games and expand.

Thanks for this topic Stewz, although I am sitting on the fence with this one, and not giving an answer. I am very interested as to what all our other members are thinking though.

I think the site is nice to help other people out at times...but on the other hand the people who use the site to promote their own site, should at least give a basic and deserved respect to the DIY site.

I have my own site...but I never would want a DIY member to use my link if DIY also had one for the same product.  Money is nice, but people have to have some ethics.

    Doesn't really sound ethical imo

To add to my above post

I have a forum section in my website and I have been checking out forums on my own to see how good they are...When I saw how friendly this site was I immediately added the site (with a brief description) with links.  So I think a complete shutdown hurts the site..in that friendly site owners can help you and benefit the membership with information that may be helpful, but selective clampdowns on clowns that just willy nilly are looking to steal money from the hard work DIY has done to attract members--is prolly a good idea

[/QUOTE]i am not against other forum owners advertising there sites and services.what i am trying to stop is the people who come on to the site and put a link in every post.ILOVEPOKER being one example where nearly all if not all his posts have a link to another site.as i have said not against advertising as we have a thread for that just dont want to see the problem get to a level where everyone will add their own links to all their posts.also when it says ban them i mean the links in the posts not the members.

Yes I understood as "ban them" = "ban links".

I do have to add that there is a section in the forum that is especially to advertise your own site, the point I think stewz is making is should members be allowed to advertise their own download links to poker room that we are currently promoting too.

I think we may well limit the advertising of your site to the specific section of the forums and 1 link under you avatar on the left hand side of every post you make. This way if you want to promote your personal sites all  over the forums, make a worthwile post in every section, the math is simple.
