Being from Canada and the NHL playoffs just under way, I thought I'd ask if anyone here has been betting on the games or who they thought was going to go all the way?

I'm rooting for the Montreal Canadiens or any of the other Canadian teams to win. Montreal is off to a good start in their series.

I haven't bet on any of the games, as I wanted to see how the teams did to start each series.

I know most people here are from parts of the world that don't really follow NHL hockey, but there may be 1 or 2 of you that like it :-D  Who is your pick to win the Stanley Cup?

My Montreal Canadiens lost today but still lead the series with Boston 2-1, and the Calgary Flames beat San Jose today. The N.J. Devils and Philadelphia Flyers also won today.

I haven't beat yet, but I'm going to place some money on some games soon. I'll let you know how I do.

WOOHOO! I placed a $100 wager on Montreal, Philly and Colorado and I get to cash a $400 ticket tomorrow ;-)

I almost had a losing ticket because I was thinking of taking Calgary on the ticket instead of the Montreal pick. Calgary lost. Whew!

I let another $100 wager ride on NYR, Pittsburgh and Nashville and all three came through for me tonight bringing another $400. I love the NHL playoffs!

I didn't bet today because I didn't want to jinx my team. The Montreal Canadiens...They won by the way...It was game 7 of the series and they won the game 5-0 and the series 4 games to 3.

Tonight was a lucky night for me. There was only two games in the NHL and I picked Pittsburgh to win vs New York Rangers and I picked Dallas Stars to win against San Jose.

Well, NYR took a 3-0 lead vs Pittsburgh and I thought my ticket and $100 wager was toast. Pittsburgh managed to make a comeback and won the game 5-4.

Dallas and San Jose didn't make it easy either. The game went into OT and Dallas won.

It was only two games so the payout only doubles my money and I win $200 for a $100 profit. Tough way to win.

I didn't make any NHL playoff picks tonight because I didn't have a good feeling and I didn't want to bet against the team I wanted to win tonight - Montreal.

Is anyone betting on the NHL?

It's good you didn't bet on the NHL games that night. It doesn't look good for Montreal now does it? Down 3-1. There are several teams on the verge of being swept in their series too. It looks like it will be Detroit vs Dallas in the Western Conference final and Pittsburgh vs Philadelphia in the Eastern Conference Final. BUT we'll have to see if it will go the way it looks like it's going.

Yep Montreal lost tonight vs Philly. Dallas had a chance to sweep the series vs San Jose but the Sharks managed to pull out a win in Dallas to take it back home. We'll see if Pittsburgh and Detroit can close out their series vs NYR and Colorado respectively tomorrow.

Detroit advances to the conference final winning 4-0

NYR won to stay alive against Pittsburgh with Pitts leading the series 3-1

Dallas and San Jose play tonight with Dallas leading the series 3-1

Philadelphia and Montreal play tomorrow with Philly leading the series 3-1

Montreal lost tonight so Philadelphia wins the series 4-1 and advances to the conference final to play the winner of the Pittsburgh/NYR series. They play tomorrow and Pitts will advance with a win. San Jose won again last night so they are trying to make a big comeback.

That San Jose and Dallas game last night was incredible going into quadruple overtime before Dallas finally finished off the Sharks to win the series. It was a nice attempt at a comeback for the sharks.

So the Western Conference Final will have Dallas Stars vs Detroit Red Wings

    and

the Eastern Conference Final will have Philadelphia Flyers vs Pittsburgh Penguins

I like Detroit and Philadelphia to advance to the Stanley Cup Final.

I think the best series will be Pittsburgh and Philadelphia. At least I hope it is. I think Detroit will beat up on Dallas but I'd like to see them take Detroit to 6 or 7 games. NHL playoffs sure take a long time to be completed though.

Detroit took care of Dallas pretty easy in game one of the Western Conference final last night and Pittsburgh won against Philadelphia tonight to take a 1-0 game lead in the Eastern Conference final. I didn't bet on either game because I wanted to see how game 1 of each series went first.

I want to bet on Detroit for tomorrow, but I'm not sure about Philly and Pitts for Sunday's game.

Detroit won again Saturday and today to take a 3-0 lead in the series.

Pittsburgh won again on Sunday to take a 2-0 lead in their series with game 3 tomorrow.

I didn't bet at all over the weekend.

Both series are now 3-1 with Dallas and Philly each winning game four at home...Now Dallas has to go back to Detroit and Philly back to Pittsburgh to try and continue their comeback attempts...

    Not going to happen.

I feel like Betting on Detroit and Pittsburgh on Saturday and Sunday respectively. I feel both teams should close out the series when they get back home.

I took ,my first betting loss as I bet on both Detroit and Pittsburgh to win. Detroit lost and Pittsburgh won. I never would have thought after Detroit took a 3-0 lead in the series that Dallas would win 2 in a row to bring the series to 3-2. They go back to Dallas for game 6. If they win there, they'll have a chance to be the 3rd tead to come back and win a NHL playoff series after being down 3-0.

Coincidentally, it was 33 years ago that it last happened, and 33 years before that when it happened the first time. COuld it happen again and keep the 33 year cycle going?

Well, Dallas didn't pull out the comeback and it will be the Detroit Red Wings vs the Philadelphia Flyers in the 2007-2008 Stanley Cup Final.

It should be a great final series and I'm not quite sure who I'll be pulling for. I think Detroit has won enough in recent history, but after their loss in the Stanley Cup last year, they will be hungry to win this one.

Pittsburgh are a young team and they will probably be back again in the near future.

I'll post my prediction in the next few days.

The Stanley Cup will start on Saturday, May 24

Oooops...I didn't get my prediction in before yesterday's game 1. Detroit won easily shutting out Pittsburgh. I was going to take Detroit, but it doesn't seem as great of a pick after they already won teh game. Making a prediction is always better BEFORE the actual game starts.

I think Detroit will go on to win the series in 6 games. They were there last year and have the experience. I do want Pittsburgh to win though.

Detroit is just dominating this series as they took game 2 once again by shutting out Pittsburgh, this time 3-0. THey now hold a 2-0 series lead and they head to Pittsburgh for games 3 and 4.
