It all get's started tomorrow at 12 PM sharp with the first event. $10,000 buy-in to start off the WSOP 2008 is the way to do it and finish it in November with the final table of the main event. I'm hoping it is an exciting WSOP and we get some entertaining poker coverage from ESPN. |

I think everyone looks forward to the main event, but there is some pretty good poker in the other events. I like the $50,000 H.O.R.S.E event and some of the other $10,000 events are pretty good. I think the final table in November is going to be hyped as much as possible in the months leading up to it. |

If I was going to go to the WSOP I would probably just play in the $1500 even if I won a $12500 package for the ME from a poker room. I just think playing in multiple tournaments has better odds than playing in one big tournament. 6000-7000 players is a big field to try and beat. |

I would like to play in the main event regardless at some point in my life. My first trip to the WSOP would probably be for a couple $1500 events though or one of the other $10,000 events that don't have as many playing.
Looking at the schedule we have another $10,000 event starting Wednesday.
Jun 4 Event 8 World Championship Mixed Event $10,000
That will probably draw some big name players that aren't currently still in another event that's still going. |

The WSOP is so great in that there are new events starting every single day. There is non stop poker action for us poker nuts. I have to get my butt there next year for sure. I am going to save my money from my winter trip to Ixtapa Mexico and instead use it for the WSOP next year. My friends will have to go to Mexico alone this winter. Unless they decide to come to Vegas next year, which I'm sure some will. |

We have just gone through two weeks of the WSOP. Man does time fly.
It has been a great 39th World Series of Poker and there are still plenty of events to come. I'm looking forward to all the World Championship Events Which are the $10,000 or greater buy-ins.

Like most DIY members, I am going to be an envious armchair supporter. Cmon Gus..
I would have to win my seat as there is no way the Missus would part with the money for the buy-in.. (I am so under the thumb) |

[/QUOTE]Heheh. Whether it's due to the missus or other reasons, the vast majority of poker players, myself included, would only play in the WSOP by winning a seat via a satellite. Unless you happen to live in the area, even playing the smallest buyin ($1500) is likely to cost more like $2500 once you add in travel, hotel, food et al. A lot of people don't have that much in their entire poker bankrolls. And even if we do, it's still not good bankroll management to spend that much on one event. For example, if your bankroll guideline is to have 50 tournament buyins, to spend $2500 on one tournament, you'd need a $125,000 roll. Sadly, I'm nowhere near that. :( |

Hey everyone...I kind of left in the middle of the WSOP and wasn't able to continue with the updates because of some personal reasons, but I'm back and I'll get the results posted for all the events (except the Main Event which is currently going on right now) over the course of today and tomorrow.
I'll get a Main Event thread started though so you all can discuss it as it's happening. |
