Hi people. Just found this site and had a read through of the forums but I am still a tad confused...

Basically, I host a weekly poker game with friends. Usually 7-10 people so nothing big, but I would like to keep track of our pllacements / winnings... I usually list the date of the game, the amount of people playing and then the names and placements of anyone in paying positions like this...

SUNDAY 11th JANUARY (6 People)

rob    1st    £40
grant    2nd    £20

SUNDAY 18th JANUARY (9 People)

trevor    1st    £60
warren    2nd    £20
gavin    3rd    £10

I also add the total scores of money earned and put that into a leaderboard like this...

1st    trev    £60
2nd    rob    £40
3rd    grant    £20
3rd    warren    £20
5th    gavin    £10

... the problem I have encountered though is that different people play each week and the people that only play every now and then feel at a disadvantage because they are playing against people that already have a lot of money next to their name in the leaderboards.

I'm just wondering what the fairest way of creating a leaderboard would be?

How do you do it?

Any opinions would be greatly appreciated

Trevor

Have you set up a poker league yet? It’s really simple to add scores as you describe.

The way we handle our poker league (which sounds similar) is to use Average Points instead of Total Points. This way, if anyone joins the league later they can compete with an average (so it is not attendance based). We also have a Minimum Game limit of 10 to ensure that you have a good average.

We moved away from scoring by cash prizes as these change per game but points do not change... (we still record the cash though)

Would that work?

thanks,
Rodney
