This is my first post anywhere sorry for the spelling and grammar and the length etc...
I have been playing for quite a while I consider my self and excellent player when I am in my comfort zone i been up and down not taking it to seriously. One time I deposited $50 on fulltilt won like $5000 playing tournaments (two tournaments actually $27 buying i think third place both times) payed tuition that was it. Put 100 from time to time won/lose some times i would win like$ 500> in a session playing Omaha and moving up in limits really quick so poker has been good to me.
Any way this is the thing I am not currently working or attending classes so I got the free bankroll used the pokerstrategy and the rake kill me , then i got another one from Titan and when all the way to 400 in a day, cleared the 5000 points in about 5 days when all the way to $600 playing consistently 4 tables cash game SH NL50 got impatience lost like $300 moving in limits put everything on black(roulette) and well I am on the street. So now I am thinking in putting my own money so that I could take it seriously $500> more less
Here are the questions :
Can someone make a living ( a modest one $100> a day ) playing SH NL50 I think I can beat this level whit out risking to much: if so what site is the best site for this kind of play.
What kind of restrains should i have:play how many hours, put a lose/ win limit, play only one kind of game, when should I quit a game.
How can I take poker seriously?

As far as time spent playing,If it`s a living, like u say trying to make $100 a day atleast, then I would give 4 hours a day for grinding time.
If I get 2 days bad results in a row,I will leave it 2 days before restarting, this gives a clear head and no memories of losses will hinder my play.I always take a break from poker every hour, whether playing ring or multi tourney.
If you are a top player you should be able to keep building the bankroll,
I never commit more than 30% of my winnings back into poker,or it seems to defeat the object of winning it.lol.
I hear stories all the time of players turning a free bankroll of say $50 into thousands, just to see them lose it.
my advice is BANK it and start again, life is all about time,so don`t waste it!!! |

I think it's important to make sure when you play you stop when losing, come back when you feel ready to go again. There's tools on the internet to help you identify tables that are easy and there's also tools that keep track of sharks... I think it's important to use these when playing poker for a living. |

I see poker as one of my greatest amusements also see it as a way to earn some extra money. I try to play then but I have to control my emotions. I felt the need to buy a mini-dell to stay connected. I can only play online on HeraCasino.com as they can control what I spend and how far it is a real casino. Also these trips are very expensive. The game of poker as hha become my everyday thing. |

There is a lot of action at $50 NLHE on pretty much every major site/network. The best site traffic wise would have to be FTP but there are plenty of others with lots of action: Cake, Merge, etc... Making $100 a day is not unreasonable at those stakes. The key is staying at those stakes and not jumping up too fast. That is a problem everyone seems to struggle with I know I have. If I loose a couple buy-ins in a row I usually take a break for an hour or two to get my head screwed on straight and continue to make the best decisions. As far as games even though I like to play them all I feel NLHE is still the easiest game to beat, at least at lower limits. There are a lot of resources out there to make you a better player and increase your winnings, if your gonna take poker seriously you should check them out, good luck at the tables! |

Oh my!!! You are just too true to be good. How do you manage to write and research on such wonderful things? You have inspired me to work harder now. I shall try as much as possible to enjoy life to the fullest and be satiated with the wonderful things that are around me, which I have been unaware of until now.

For a very good player, the win rate should approach 2-3 big blinds per hour. So, at 50 NL, you're really looking at a LONG TERM win rate of $1.-$1.50/hour. So, if you're multitabling it can produce a small income. But, keep in mind that you should have at least a $250 bankroll, and with anything less than $200 you should be playing no higher than .10/.20 to avoid the risk of ruin (aka varience). |
