When receiving these hands i never now how to play them. I like to limp in, but end up losing alot because the big blind checks with 8 2 and the flop is 8 2 w.e. Should i be raising preflop in these situations. Im afraid if i raise no one will call and my hand will go to waste.

I myself like to reraise on these kinds of hands if im pocket pair more times with A-K i call cause those hands aren't a guarentee but at least pocket pair u have a legit hand to play lets say blinds r 50-100 i usually reraise at least 3 times the BB if paired that way people with a bad hand will get out and the more legit players will call or reraise. When the flop comes bet see how the others react to your amount just b aware of pair on the flop that can dump your hand in a heart beat! I dont know if thats the best way but it seems to work for me 75% of the time.

IMO these are hands that almost always require a PF raise! There are two reasons... first to build the pot and second to get fools off of crappy hands like the 82 you mentioned! LOL

Position is KEY as it is with any other thing in poker... I play these hands much more aggressively in late position than early although I never limp... PERIOD! I figure if a hand is good enough to put a little money in, it should be good enough to put MORE moeny in...

If you are regularly limping chances are your opponents are reading you as a newbie or perhaps just a calling station and that will totally affect thier own play and by extension what you are able to ddo with any given set of starting cards.

I NEVER raise based on the cards in my hand... if I am raising different amounts it is probably becasue of my position... this really keeps other players guessing because they can get nothing on your hand strength other than the fact that it is good enough to get you into the pot.

I almost always raise pre-flop in order to force out bad hands like 8 2. However, sometimes if the time and the type of players are right I might slow play them.

Preflop raise of 3 to 5BB, if you get one or two callers play a continuation bet!
It doesn´t matter what will appear on the flop! You should represent a strong hand.
If you are reraised, lay down, if you missed!

it sucks when someone calls your AK with small pocket pair, you hit top pair and have lots more outs to better the hand, when you get check raised ,and they have flopped trips,u smell a rat but still call for one of those outs ,and it doesn`t come, even tho the odds are vgood.

I don't think I'm letting go of AA or KK preflop even on the bubble or else position plays a big part in the decision. But if in the blinds I won't play if there is a lot of raising and calling going on but I might call min raise with at least AQ.

I would actually prefer having AK and flopping an Ace or King then having AA and getting action on the flop.
