Our monthly tournaments are spread around the North/South Manchester area and consist of a pool of approx 20 players.
Some play a few tournaments a year and others play every one.
The tournaments have been running for over 2 years and have (sad to say) replaced the 'lads Friday night out'!!
This is what happens when you get married, have kids, have a mortgage etc etc.
You will have gathered from this that most of the players are (to be kind) in there late 40's although we do have a few young guns who play and usually win so they are not invited too often!
The standard of the games can be varied and we have a mixture of loose aggressive, tight and calling station type players BUT the main reason we play is to have a laugh, have a drink and hopefully win a few quid of each other!
Whoever hosts the night is responsible for the 'half time' food that in most cases has been prepared by the gorgeous (it says here) better halfs and allows them a girls night out........eh....hang on...thats not right!
Although we have a laugh we play poker seriously (well Ted & Dave H do anyway) and have a league table that for bragging rights is keenly contested unless you are near the bottom and you can pretend you don't really care (eh Brian)
Our poker nights are enjoyed by all who play (except John who keeps losing:) )and will hopefully carry on for the forseeable future.
