Jose Rosenkrantz
Jose Rosenkrantz was Born in Costa Rica where he eventually became friends with fellow poker player Humberto Brenes. They are known as members of the "Costa Rica Connection".
Rosenkrantz was a national billiards champion before he moved into poker. It was 1985 when Jose left billiards to join Humberto Brenes' home poker games. There weren't many options for poker players in Costa Rica so Brenes and Rosenkrantz opened their own poker club.
Jose Rosenkrantz has traveled the world for his clothing manufacturing company, which he has since retired from. It was during a trip to Vegas that he and Brenes discovered Texas Hold'em.
Jose made it into the money in two World Series of Poker events in 1987, the $1,500 Limit Hold'em event and the No-Limit Hold'em Main Event. Rosenkrantz continued to make it into the money on numerous occasions for the next few years. Rosenkrantz won the World Poker Tour $500 No-Limit Hold'em event of the Costa Rica Classic in 2002, winning $108,730.
Jose has had numerous finishes in the money over the years, but has yet to best the win in 2002. It's only a matter of time though as the "Costa Rican Madman" and the "Costa Rica Connection" will be around the poker scene for years to come.
