Marcel Luske "The Flying Dutchman"
Marcel Lüske "The Flying Dutchman" was born on March 20, in Holland and currently resides in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. He was named after French pugilist, Marcel Sardain.
The Flying Dutchman is known for his signature upside down sunglasses and singing at the poker table. He began flying from city to city to play poker which is how he picked up his nickname.
In the 2004 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event Marcel finished in 10th place, just one spot away from making the final table, and won $373,000. The prior year at the 2003 Main Event he finished in 14th taking home $65,000. Marcel has finished in the money at the WSOP several times, including 2nd in the 2004 $5,000 Seven-card stud tournament and taking the $120,800 prize.
Marcel also won €119,000 in the €10,000 Hall of Fame Poker Classic in Paris, France in July 2005.
Marcel Lüske has mentored the 2004 World Series of Poker David Williams, the runner-up of the World Poker Tour season 1 championship Kirill Gerasimov.
Marcel started a show called "Veronica Poker" in early 2007, which he was accompanied by Noah Boeken. They would teach a couple of Dutch celebrities poker and the celebrities would play each other, with the winner going to a tournament in Las Vegas.
Marcel Lüske also appeared with Boeken in the show "Poker Kings NL" where cameras followed them at tournaments, appeared in the show Celebrity Poker and made two appearances on the show Late Night Poker.
