Antanas Guoga - aka: Tony G
Tony G was born Antanas Guoga on December 17th, 1973 in Vilnius, Lithuania and currently resides in Melbourne Australia.
When he was a child, Tony G was the Rubik's Cube champion of Lithuania before he moved to Melbourne, Australia at the age of 11. Tony has played poker since the age of 18, and is known for his trash talk and aggressive play.
Tony G had a 5th place finish in the World Poker Tour Grand Prix de Paris 2003, where Howard Lederer refused to shake his hand due to his aggressive table talk during play.
Tony earned $414,478 in the WPT Grand Prix de Paris 2004 for his second place finish to England's Surinder Sunar. In the same month at the WPT 2004 Mirage Poker Showdown he finished on the bubble.
Tony G finished in the money twice at the 2004 World Series of Poker in Seven-card stud and Pot Limit Texas hold 'em tournaments.
Tony won the $5,000 No Limit Hold-Em Main Event of the European Poker Championships on August 7, 2005, earning £260,000 ($456,822).
Tony also won the WPT Bad Boys of Poker II event in 2006 beating Mike Matusow. Tony also finished 2nd to Yosh Nakano while representing Australia in the inaugural Intercontinental Poker Championship, winning $150,000. Tony G hurled verbal assaults against his opponents. Tony G stated to Ralph Perry, "Look at this, look how he's doing, look how he's playing, look how ugly this is. You're a professional player and I can do this to you. You're a terrible player. This is disgraceful." Tony G did have some nice things to say which repects to legend Doyle Brunson when he called Doyle his idol after eliminating him.
Tony G won the Betfair Asian Poker Tour event held in Singapore on November 17, 2006 and won $451,700 half of which he indicated he will give to Asian and Australian charities to be nominated by Betfair.
Tony also appeared on the NBC television program "Poker After Dark" where he finished in 3rd place behind winner Phil Ivey in February 2007. In November 2007, Tony won a tournament in Moscow and cashed in $205,000 which he says in his blog that he left all of his prize money with the officials to give to Russian orphanages.
