Add other league owners

Details: I'd like to be able give other league members the ability to add games and edit results in a league. This is useful if the owner is out of town, etc.

So League Admin can do EVERYTHING the owner can? Edit the main league details, edit old results etc? They have equal rights to the owner or are there things that only the Owner should be able to do.

I would prefer to make them all equal... (It's assumed that you trust them before you promote them... ;)

For example - can a League Deputy promote other users to Admin? (hmmm.... maybe not...)

In my case it's a for-fun work league, and I trust the other admins to not screw with stuff.

I guess if you want to make it more useful to everyone you'd allow a league's owner to be really specific about which members can do what on the league, or even on a per-game basis. That is a more complicated feature, though. I'd be happy with just being able to give another member all the same permissions I have in the league.

Ok, thanks for the feedback - I'll try and get it done in the next 2 weeks

I am working on this now, it should be live in the next 2 days. I have decided that League Deputies can do everything that the owner can do EXCEPT delete the league and seasons (they can create seasons tho)

That way if you did give someone malicious access they could do a lot of damage but they'd have to delete a game at a time...

Ryan - do you think that League Deputies should be able to deputize other league members or not?

By Ryan T @ 8/24/2009
Probably not necessary.

Only situation I can think of is if the owner of a league moves or something and wants to give ownership to someone else (and that person would want to add deputies later...) This can be done manually, I think?

By Rod @ 8/24/2009
Hmm - good point! There is no way to handle passing ownership over to someone else at this stage (without Admin intervention) - however there are some more limitations of deputies:

Can't delete a league
Can't delete users from the league (this erases all past scores and is too easy to do)
Can't delete other Deputies
Can't assign other Deputies

I'll have to make a note of your point and then in the future make a way to handle this. It is a fairly rare case so will leave it for a later version. I'm pretty much done, I'll just do some more testing and then it should be live tomorrow sometime, thanks for the feedback.

Ok Ryan, this feature is now live (you can read more about it here - http://www.pokerdiy.com/poker-blogs/id/515/now-league-deputies-can-update-your-poker-league-scoreboard-too.aspx)

Please have a play around with it and give me your feedback here.
